BLACK OUT

About
Ari Katz
Born in Brooklyn’s Chasidic community, discovered art as his primary form of self-expression within a restrictive upbringing. With a background in hospitality and culinary arts, he developed a keen eye for detail that later fueled his artistic exploration. After moving to Los Angeles, Ari devoted five years to honing his craft, experimenting with mediums ranging from black tape to oil, acrylic, resin, and textured mixed-media techniques - often highlighted by his signature use of gold.
His work is heavily influenced by history, architecture, and personal narrative. His latest series, Am Israel Chai, reflects this passion, portraying powerful historical themes such as the events of October 7 and Kristallnacht. Now based in Miami, Ari continues to create bold, layered, emotionally driven pieces that serve as a deep expression of his inner world.

Proud Jude Series
Refraction
In Refraction, Ari Katz reimagines a synagogue window through resin and wood, assembling fractured, glass-like forms into a luminous geometric star. The work echoes the shattered windows of World War II, when Jews were targeted and forced to practice and pray in secret during a time of profound darkness. As light bends through the translucent structure, it becomes a metaphor for resilience - altered by hardship yet still shining through.
